Outreach Programme at Government High School, Kalay, Goa – SIGHT

As a part of National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, IEEE DBCE Student Branch in association with IEEE Bombay Section SIGHT (Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology) organized an Outreach Programme at Government High School, Kalay, Sanguem- Goa under Goa Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. The main objectives of this event were to make students aware about electronics & telecommunication field and to assess the availability of the resources in the laboratories. The invited resource persons were Prof. Yeshudas Muttu & Prof. Mohini Naik Gadekar. 

The Electronics & Hardware Instructor, Ms. Karishma Naik, introduced the guest speakers to the audience. The event started off with a session on “Electromagnetic Wave & Spectrum” by Prof. Mohini Naik Gadekar. She introduced the school students with basic electromagnetism concepts. She also demonstrated the transmission and reception of the data using Morse code kit.

The next session titled “Electrical, Electronics & its applications” was delivered by Prof. Yeshudas Muttu. He briefed the students about the basic electrical & electronic components used in day today life and the physics behind it. Later, students were familiarized with basics of robotics, interfacing devices like sensors, motors, etc. and integrated electronics & electrical to build a robot. 

The students were very interactive and showed keen interest in the field of electronics & Telecommunication. The event concluded with Vote of Thanks by Ms. Karishma Naik.
