B. Satyanarayana,

Chair, IEEE Bombay Section

Currently, the whole world is passing through the most unprecedented times of our generation, which has not only hampered most severely the progress and prosperity of the human race on the planet but also led most parts of developing countries into desperation, hunger, disease, and death. While the situation continues to be grim, the communities of science, engineering, and technology – which are so well represented by the IEEE, took upon themselves the challenge and working very hard to find novel and yet fast solutions which are helping the governments and the people to tide over the catastrophic pandemic.
In this context, we must be proud of our own contributions through IEEE’s SIGHT initiative, which stands for Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology. It is a network of IEEE volunteers around the world which partner with underserved communities and local organizations to leverage technology for their sustainable development. IEEE Bombay Section’s SIGHT team is very agile, energetic – and more importantly – a very passionate set of committed volunteers, who have been doing excellent work in achieving this mission.
Let us all sincerely hope, that we will get over this bad phase very soon. I wish you and your families a healthy and happy life, which is the most need of the hour than ever before. Please do take good care and stay safe.
