Dear R10 Section Chairs, Council Chairs and Section MD Chairs,
Greetings from R10 MD committee, six months have been passed with COVID-19 pandemic and apparently looks it will take further same or even more time, during this difficult time, IEEE for its members have created a lot of opportunities and facilitation for learning, working, networking, either by arranging a full-day conference or by one or two hour webinars and sharing their ideas with young professionals, professionals, and students.
I would especially request to all section MD officers to arrange the awareness sessions for the students, professionals, seniors regarding the value of the IEEE membership, R10 MD committee would encourage the sections to arrange such webinars and myself, as a chair of the committee is ready to talk on this topic.
It is the need to time that each section MD officers highlight the benefits IEEE is providing to the student members, like the subscription of IEEE potential magazine especially for high-tech innovators, access to career resources, participation in the IEEEXtreme 24 hours programming competition, IEEE day and other interesting global activities and events.
R10 MDC request to all the honorable section MD officers and other volunteers to see the membership development as an integral part of all the committees established by the sections/sub-sections, e.g., Professional, Education, and Students Activities, and Industrial Relations Committees, Young Professionals, and Women In Engineering affinity groups. Here, I quote the words by R10 Director, Prof. Akinori Nishihara,
“Membership is a core value of IEEE. Members shape IEEE’s future. Members collaborate to create IEEE’s future, and IEEE enhances members’ future. We will increase the value of IEEE membership, and improve relationships with and between members. Please join us to have a better IEEE”.
Do share with your local communities and colleagues who may be of interest in joining IEEE that the New IEEE Membership Year begins on 16 August.
