SUMMARY OF LECTURE BY DR MADHUKAR V PITKE, FIEEE

Venue : MH SABOO SIDDIK COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, MUMBAI
Date: 26 MARCH 2015

Rapid advances in digital and component technologies have created new and unprecedented
opportunities for young engineers and scientists in India.  We have to move from the usual services model to the more productive development model which will bring real prosperity. India, with its vast pool of young skilled manpower is in a unique position to benefit from this situation by creating an environment that will promote creativity and entrepreneurship.

India also has to orient its engineering education with stress on real engineering and building. We have to undertake advanced projects with commitment to delivery. Among the new areas that have emerged is Vehicular Electronics which is a direct result of the need for reliable communication and control within the vehicle and that between the vehicles and the control centre.

The well developed automobile industry in India provides several opportunities of significant contributions for the young engineer. The IEEE Vehicular Technology Society has a key role in promoting this objective.
