Abstract:
Technical benefit of using fiber optics as media is very well known to average people, after mass deployment of fiber optic cables all around the world. But fiber has much more advantages beyond that. Contrary to myth, use of fiber optics gives distinct economic advantages which is not obvious.
Fiber to the home (FTTH) technology opened possibility of many new kind of services which was unimaginable earlier. In this presentation, the basic concepts of FTTH followed by detailed analysis of benefits of same shall be covered.
Finally , there will be discussion on few case studies about deployment of FTTH at different geographic regions and status of technology at India.

Short Biography of the speaker:
Hitesh Mehta is founder of Eagle Photonics Pvt Ltd and co-founder of Fiber Optika Technologies Pvt Ltd. He has 19 years of experience in Fiber Optic communication & Telecom industry, ranging from Production, R&D, Business Development, Project Management and consultancy.
Hitesh Mehta received M.Tech degree from IIT-Delhi in 1995. He is a Chartered Engineer. He started his career with Optel Telecommunication & later moved to TVS, where he established Nortel Network’s Component Division, Virtual Photonics and Lightwave Micro’s photonics business. He founded Eagle Photonics in 2002 to provide system integration, consultancy and training services to telecom clients.
He is former Chairman of IEEE Bangalore Section and fellow of IETE, member of IEEE Communication Society & Photonics Society, and Optical Society of USA. He was coordinator for IISc’s continuing education program for working professional (PROFICIENCE) at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore for 4 years. He and his team have trained engineers at India, Botswana, Saudi Arabia, Mauritius, Kenya, South Africa, Maldives, Jamaica and other countries on fiber optics and other telecom technologies.
He has filed 12 Domestic and International patents. He received DST- Lockheed Martin Gold Medal for Innovation, Alexender Graham bell Award for innovation, Economic Times-Power of Ideas Cash award for best business ideas.
