Getting Started with Raspberry-Pi

Abstract:

‘Raspberry Pi’ (R-Pi) is a credit card size single board programmable computer which is based on Linux OS. It is unique in its built-in programmable I/O port which makes it suitable for variety of applications. It can be used as a low cost computer for developing number of research projects in robotics, computer networking, home automation, patient monitoring, WSN, IOT and M2M communication etc. to name a few.

This Session will introduce, key features of R-Pi hardware and software components, basic configuration of R-Pi and installation of necessary software to begin with. It will also cover basic programming of R-Pi using I/O port along with a quick demonstration on a real time application to felicitate the use of R-Pi in future with ease.


About the speaker:

Mrs. Joanne Gomes is currently working towards her PhD in EXTC at the SNDT University. She has worked in the industry for 13 years and had an opportunity to execute various projects in instrumentation and power electronics field at R&D and implementation level. She has 14 years of teaching experience and is presently working as an Associate Professor in the Information Technology Department, St. Francis Institute of Technology, Mumbai. She has authored various conferences and journal papers at National and International level. Her special fields of interest include Embedded Systems and Wireless Communication.
