This expert lecture is being organized as a part of IEEE Power Electronics Day.

Abstract: This presentation will consider the roadmaps for power electronics and motor drives in transportation electrification, particularly electric propulsion systems. The talk will draw on comparisons across a range of transportation electrification platforms, including cars/motorbikes, aircraft and ships. The technological developments which are going to be needed to make these visions possible will be explored and some current developments described as case studies. The Challenges for us as Power Electronics experts will also be considered as well as integration and interfaces to energy storage elements within the system design.
