Professor Rahul Banerjee is the Director of the LNMIIT Jaipur where he is also a Professor of Computer Science & Engineering. He holds a PhD in CSE in the area of Hybrid Intelligent Systems. His research and teaching interests lie in the areas of Network Protocol engineering, QoS-Enabled Routing, Wearable Computing, IIoT, Intelligent Software Systems and Ubiquitous Computing Environments.

He has led and participated in several funded research projects including those funded by European Commission in the area of Next Generation Networking involving IPv6 (in a five-nation project), Govt. of India (MeiTY) in the area of Technology-enabled Learning, Govt. of France (in a four-nation project) in the area of IPv6-enabled Low-Power Wireless Sensor Networking. In addition, Microsoft Research, IBM, Cisco, DEC and Google have supported his work in a variety of forms and grants. He has had active research collaborations involving Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Oxford, University of Bern, UPM Madrid, Stanford University, Pennsylvania State University, University of Bath, University of Haute Alsace and ITM Rennes amongst others. He had also served as the head of the European Commission-supported Next Generation Network Initiatives’s Quality of Service research group under the FP-5. Currently, he is working on a collaborative project involving the HBS of the Harvard University, a Social Space NGO and the LNMIIT Jaipur involving technology-assisted solutions in interiors of Rajasthan.

He has been a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Internet Computing, IEEE Communications, IEEE Transactions on ITS, Elsevier's Pattern Recognition Letters and BMSP, IJCNDS and IISc Journal etc. He has also served on a Technical Committee of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in the EdTech space.

Prior to joining the LNMIIT, he was with BITS Pilani for about two decades in various roles, both academic and leadership. Apart from being a Professor of CS at BITS Pilani, he was the university-wide Leader for the BITS-Connect 2.0, an ambitious Multi-campus Immersive Telepresence Project, under Mission-2012. He was also the Leader of the university-wide Technology-Enablement Imperative under the Mission-2015, an Assistant Dean (Tech.), the Head of the Department: CS and Chief of the SDET Unit, at different points in time..

He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Senior Member of the IEEE, Member of the ACM and a Life Member of ISoc, ISTE and ISCA. He had founded the Touch-Lives.org as a virtual enterprise in the social entrepreneurship space in 2010 that survived for little over six years but led to technology solutions for the underserved including those for the autistic children, the elderly and the differently enabled people.

He has served on boards of two technology companies of the Government of Rajasthan apart from having served as an Advisor to a few enterprises in private space.
