IEEE SIGHT APPROVED PROJECT – SIGHT

SPREADING BRIGHTNESS THROUGH SUSTAINABILITY-SOLAR LAMP AND AWARENESS TRAINING FOR RURAL – IEEESITSB, SIT, Lonavala

Our goal and aim is to provide knowledge and resouces to the underpriviled rural residents, who can
make the most out of solar energy and brighten up their homes towards a brighten up their homes toward a
bright future. This traning has been designed to make people to understand climate change, energy
sustainability and will also learn to assemble a solar study lamp. The 7.6 billion people on earth today are
consuming more resources than the earth’s capacity to generate those resources in the same year. Not
sustainable! The world needs to switch towards green energy sources and utilize energy efficiently for
sustainability of energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Renewable energy technology-based solutions
today, particularly solar due to advancement in technologies and reduction in cost, can be utilized to meet the
complete 24×7 energy needs locally and sustainably. The approach of generation and consumption of energy
to fulfill our requirements needs a relook. In this context, Energy Swaraj can be thought of, based on the
Gandhian principle of “not mass production but production by the masses” is required to be applied in the
field of energy for energy sustainability to address United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Local people can be trained to own, manage, and operate solar enterprises at every level including assembly,
sale, after-sales service, and manufacturing. Science and technology development alone is NOT a solution for
sustainability .Gandhiji’s ideals are more relevant today and required for sustainability .We inspired a lot
from Gandhi Global Solar Yatra program which was for creating students solar Ambassador.Based on that
program we thought that along with students if we will educate their parents to make solar lamp and give
importance of solar enery .Then these parents will educate their childrensand give importance of solar
energy to there children. We planned this traning for village people wh are less educated .so with this training
they canstart their own startup to make Lamp. Also In vilages a lots of problem of electricity ,so peoples are
using candles or kerosene lamps.because of kerosne lamp enviormment get polluted.olar-powered household
lighting can replace other light sources like candles or kerosene lamps. Solar lamps have a lower operating
cost than kerosene lamps because renewable energy from the sun is free, unlike fuel. In addition, solar lamps
produce no indoor air pollution unlike kerosene lamps. However, solar lamps generally have a higher initial
cost, and are weather dependent.Solar lamps for use in rural situations often have the capability of providing
a supply of electricity for other devices, such as for charging cell phones. With this traning people will well
understood about importance of solar energy .That is the main moto of our Honorable prime minister
Narendra Modi to become Indial as a Atmanirbhar Bharat in energy. This is the small step towards to
Atmanirbhar Bharat.
