Way back in 1890's he demonstrated radio communication in mm waves in Kolkata. In1996, A Paulraj patented MIMO. Joe Mitola and Vanu Bose introduced Software Defined Radios (SDRs). SDR Mesh networks is popular in Tactical Battlefield communication. The talk will share a brief overview and challenges of Tactical Radio communication in the Military. While Military R&D led radio communication development and a dual use case was civil radio, of late the table turned and now Civil is leading Radio development and the example is 5G.Can the Military easily adapt to civil radio? Over the air standards is good enough? Will a variant of 5G be the next in Military Tactical communication? The talk aims to share and discuss the criticalities and challenges in Military Tactical Radio communication. Speaker Profile Shri R. Muralidharan, Fellow Indian National Academy of Engineering and Life Senior Member IEEE, is a Systems Engineering professional for 42 years and is currently CTO at Tata Advanced Systems Ltd., Mumbai, India.
